The Maine Victims’ Compensation Program, managed by the Office of the Attorney General, offers financial relief to victims of violent crimes in Maine and their families. It covers medical expenses (75% of charges), counseling, funeral costs (up to $4,500), lost income, and financial support for dependents of homicide victims, with a maximum award of $15,000. Eligibility requires reporting the crime within five days, cooperating with law enforcement, and filing within three years. Property losses and pain and suffering are not covered. Funding comes from offender assessments, restitution, and federal grants.

The Oklahoma Crime Victims Compensation Program (OCVC), established in 1981 under the Crime Victims’ Compensation Act, provides financial assistance to victims of violent crimes in Oklahoma. It reimburses expenses like medical costs, counseling, funeral expenses, and lost wages, funded by offender fines, federal grants, and restitution. Eligibility requires reporting the crime within 72 hours and filing a claim within one year, with cooperation in investigations. The program, administered by the Oklahoma District Attorneys Council, aims to ease financial burdens for victims and their families.
